A downloadable TTRPG

Centuries from now, after spreading throughout the galaxy, an asteroid belt-based community struggles to survive in the aftermath of a terrible war.

In the Boundless Space TTRPG, players will take on the roles of a spaceship crew, trading necessities between the scattered settlements of the Eridani Belt, avoiding the remnant forces from the devastating Shell incursion, and hopefully making a better world.

Currently this game is in playtesting, and your feedback would be greatly appreciated as we fine tune the systems of this game to well, not perfection, but smooth running at least.

In order to play, Boundless Space requires this document, a set of six side dice, and a deck of playing cards. It can be played solo, but friends won't hurt either.

Update: Added printer friendly versions, added pages versions as well as spreads. Updated the map and travel rules for clarity.

Page 8: “Your appearance today may well have been provenance.” That should probably be providence (the beneficial intervention of a god or fate), not provenance (the origin or early history of something), unless it’s a deliberate malaprop (mistaken use of a word in place of a similar-sounding one).

Oh man, I wonder how long I've been using *that* incorrectly.

TRAVEL: “A ship with a Reserves value of 0 is dead in space.” If I’m understanding this correctly, it should probably be rewritten as “A ship with a full Reserves track is dead in space.”

PORTS: “If at least one good was traded, the ship may refill its reserves.” What does “traded” mean here? “If you bought any goods,” “If you sold any goods,” “If you both bought and sold goods,” or “If you bought or sold any goods”?

Thank you for these notes Avram! I'll be incorporating them into the next version.

How/when do characters get Stamina back?

Any time they're back on the ship, they recover. I've been considering that fulfilling some kind of character dirve may do it as well, but am not quite there yet!

This looks very cool. However I think your random chargen is too random. I can suggest two alternatives. Give folks a fixed amount of points, maybe 4,5, or 6 and let them assign them as they like, or let them roll that many dice and 1-2  results add  to Strength, 3-4s to Agility, and 5-6s to Presence.

This is a very good idea.

This looks very cool. Any chance you can export and upload a version in pages rather than spreads, please?

Definitely.  This weekend at the latest.

Slightly later than the weekend, but they're up!

“SHIPSINGER: […] Count 4’s as hits when working on the ship” Does “working on the ship” mean repairing, modifying, or upgrading the ship, or does it mean performing any type of work while on the ship?

That's a GM call. Worded in such a way to let a table find their own consensus. The "count "4" abilities are quite powerful, and tables have to find their own equilibrium.

“Your character’s last three HP are linked to their facets” How does this work for PCs that rolled 0 for Strength, and have only 2 HP?

They do not get that last one, but I'm willing to consider that all PCs get three, minimum if that sounds clunky.

oh wow. Love the vibe, tone, and the setting. Reminds me of the Breathing Space podcast. Rough and tumble with a heart of gold.

I like the “places to go and people to see” way of setting up a location too. Very slick. I’ll be watching! :)

Thank you! There's always a bit of breath-holding, releasing something into the world. I appreciate the kind words here at the beginning.
