THE FACILITY
A downloadable game
You awaken, cold and in the dark.
Fumbling around by low blue lights in a coffin shaped pod.
You pull yourself out of the box, and in the dark see the faces of others. You are all wearing loose fitting white clothing and laceless shoes. Hospital patients?
You peer into the dark, seeing little but hearing the sound of dripping, running water and distant machinery. You gather what you can, knowing that something is hunting you. It will be here soon.
Wait.
Can you remember who you are?
The Facility is a game for any number of players, taking on the role of ordinary people, stripped of their memories and trapped in a hostile and insane labyrinth of machines and interdimensional weirdness.
Can your escapees make it to the elevator at the end of the book and escape the maze, or will your robotic nemesis find you and end you down there in the dark?
We play to find out.
THIS GAME IS BREATHLESS

Is there someway to get a black on white, rather than the white on black in the PDF?
I find it very hard on my eyes, and after reading for a while, I'm left with blurry vision :-(
And I can't print it!
Hi Galen! I just picked The Facility up at Gen Con, have speed read the book, and am trying to figure out when to bring it to the table! However, the link to the character sheets in the back of the book leads to this page, but no character sheets are available without purchase.
I will be getting the PDF, but for those that haven't/can't, please include a link. Thanks muchly!
Oh shoot, I thought I had made those free! I'll make some community copies available for you right away, that should give you an immediate fix.
Howdy Galen! Are there plans to release new copies to the community?
A fine idea! 50 more copies have been added to the pile.
p.07 s.v. Stress says that a Medkit clears 3 stress. The character sheet (download above) says a Medkit clears 2 (top left of sheet). Which do you think works better to pace the game?
Three is correct. I'll fix the character sheet and update it immediately. Thank you for catching that.
Just got my KS copy, read it through and very excited to run this. Is there a place (discord, etc) to discuss interpretation of the mechanics with you or other GMs? First question is about the d66 roll for COREs under salvage: many pages (17–20, 27-30, 37–40, etc) can never be rolled on d66...is that intentional? Such that the only way to find those COREs is on a salvage roll of 14?
This is the place, I suppose! You are correct, a lot of the more experimental/oddball COREs were put on the pages that can only be reached by "GM's choice".
I would encourage GM's to liberally hand out any that sound like fun, or if you'd like to disclaim the decision making, have the player roll a D100, and subtract 70 if the player rolls higher than that.
I wish you a good game!
Is the nemesis and the character sheet one of the same?
It is not! You can use the Nemesis page right now, but I will be adding printer-friendly Nemesis sheets to the next update to make the GM's job easier.
Those sheets have been added, sorry for the delay.
Does this game require a Game Master (GM)?
I just ran a demo of it today. There are solo or GMless rules in the back, but i think it's best with a GM who has planned a few rooms ahead and come up with more fleshed out scenes/encounters for them. That said, it does provide a lot of good imagery and framework.
Thank you! That is what I came here to say. (Sorry about the delay on that Dimmendark).
Facility is best with a GM and 2-4 players, but works quite well as a 1 on 1 game.
Solo rules were added at backer request, but are not as thoroughly playtested as the core Breathless rules. If you have any suggestions or notes to add to them, please leave them here!
